Functional and funky was what I had in store for this 1950's buffet. It's destination: the summer kitchen. It would be used to store plates, glasses and silverware we use when we eat outside. Therefore I went for something fresh and retro. Here's how I relooked it:
- removed doors and drawers
- cleaned and sanded all surfaces
- removed zinc trim and handles and painted them with zinc colored spray paint
- removed damaged film from glass doors and replaced it with an electro-static semi-transparent film
- applied "violet fig" paint with the help of my low-pressure paint sprayer
- cut PVC flooring to size and glued it down, then replaced the zinc trim
- line drawers and shelves with silver shelf paper
Because of its location, I could have really gotten carried away. However, I stuck to something simple and colorful that evokes the tastes of everyone in the family.
